Java Compatibility in your browser
brought to you by Four Papayas and a Fnord

This is the 4PF Java Version-Sniff page. This page will try to determine if your browser has a new enough version of the Java 2 runtime environment (J2RE) to run the applets found on this site.

This process may a bit slow on some browsers.

If the browser identification is incorrect, or reads "capabilities unknown," the Java detection techniques used may not work at all, and diagnoses of problems may be incorrect. See here for more information on our browser identification and to report misidentification.

Please note that we do not require browser-sniffing techniques in order to set up for the featured applets; the identification done here is strictly to provide hints.

The latest version of Java from Sun Microsystems can be found here.
The latest 1.3 version of Java from Sun Microsystems can be found here.

Note: Unless you are doing Java development yourself, you need to get only the JRE, not the SDK or Documentation. The English-only version is about 3MB smaller than the all-language version.

The JavaScript on this page is known not to work with Netscape 3. We do not support running applets on this browser, altho technically it can be done.
